The Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting a Senior House Officer in Emergency Medicine for University Hospital Limerick. This fixed-term wholetime post offers hands-on clinical experience within a busy acute hospital serving the Mid West region. Applicants from both HSE and non-HSE backgrounds are welcome.
The role supports the delivery of high-quality emergency care across Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide timely assessment, diagnosis and treatment to emergency department patients.
• Deliver high-quality clinical care under consultant supervision.
• Participate in all rostered duties, including nights, weekends and on-call commitments.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and patient flow management.
• Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to hospital and HSE clinical policies.
• Support continuous quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Engage in audit, teaching and ongoing professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Full registration (or eligibility) with the Irish Medical Council.
• Experience in acute or emergency medicine is an advantage.
• Strong clinical judgement and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to patient-centred care and professional development.

• Senior House Officer salary scale applies as per national HSE pay agreements.
