University Hospital Waterford is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse Theatre/Anaesthetics & Recovery to join its perioperative team. This permanent HSE opportunity offers the chance to work in a dynamic surgical environment delivering high-quality patient care across theatre, anaesthetics, and recovery services.

This campaign may create a panel for current and future permanent or specified purpose vacancies (full-time or part-time).

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care within theatre, anaesthetics and recovery settings.
  • Support surgical teams in maintaining safe and efficient operating environments.
  • Monitor and assess patients pre- and post-operatively.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team collaboration to optimise patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Registration as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Experience in theatre, anaesthetics or recovery nursing (desirable).
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary is aligned with the HSE Staff Nurse (General) Grade 2135 consolidated pay scale effective 1 August 2025 .
