About the Role
The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital is seeking a Registrar for the Acute Surgical Assessment Unit, commencing January 11, 2027. This is a 6-month full-time, fixed-term contract with a possibility of extension. The role is based in the Emergency Department (ED), which sees over 85,000 patients annually, making it the busiest adult ED in Ireland. The Acute Surgical Assessment Unit (ASAU) manages general surgical patients referred during working hours (8AM-4PM). Successful candidates will assess, manage, and discharge patients with a clear follow-up path, or refer those requiring acute admission to the admitting team. The role involves managing a wide range of general surgical emergencies and participating in teaching and research. There is no on-call commitment with this position.
Requirements
