About the Role

The Health Service Executive is recruiting an Anaesthetic Registrar to join Kilcreene Regional Orthopaedic Hospital and University Hospital Waterford. This fixed-term, wholetime post offers an opportunity to work across a busy regional orthopaedic service and a major acute hospital. The role includes significant involvement in preassessment services and participation in weekend on-call rotas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team in the preassessment clinic at Kilcreene Regional Orthopaedic Hospital.
  • Provide high-quality anaesthetic care in line with HSE clinical standards.
  • Cover weekend on-call duties at University Hospital Waterford as rostered.
  • Support safe perioperative practice across anaesthesia, recovery, and related clinical settings.
  • Contribute to training, audit, and patient safety activities within the anaesthesia department.
  • Work effectively across both hospital sites as service needs dictate.

Requirements

  • Full registration or eligibility for registration with the Irish Medical Council.
  • Experience at Registrar level in Anaesthesia.
  • Strong clinical judgement and ability to work independently within supervised frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care and HSE values.
  • Ability to participate fully in on-call rosters.
