About the Role
The Minister for Children, Disability and Equality invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Ordinary Member to the Board of Board of Management of the Oberstown Children Detention Campus.
The successful candidate will sit on the Audit and Risk Committee at Oberstown Children Detention Campus.
Requirements
Essential
Candidates must be willing to develop knowledge and an understanding of the rights and interests of children and show a commitment to the full implementation of the rights and interests of children in conflict with the law.
Candidates wishing to apply must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience at the appropriately senior level in the following areas:
- Demonstrate evidence of Financial Expertise (Accountancy, Audit or Corporate Finance)
Desirable
It is also desirable that candidates demonstrate evidence of experience in the following:
- Previous experience at a senior level in public sector management;
- Previous experience in board membership and demonstrated interest in good governance particularly concerning financial management;
- Previous experience in identifying, developing and overseeing the implementation of key strategic objectives;
- Experience in understanding issues from a young person’s perspective.
- Children’s rights, particularly youth justice and detention;
- Working with children from minority ethnic backgrounds, including children from the Traveller community.
