About the Role
The Minister for Children, Disability and Equality is seeking to appoint a Chairperson and Ordinary Members to the National Disability Authority.
Requirements
Chairperson
Candidates must demonstrate experience in at least three of the following areas:
- Leadership roles in private, public, or not-for-profit sectors;
- Executive or non-executive level in large, complex organisations;
- Corporate governance, risk management, and compliance in the public sector;
- Financial management in private, public, or not-for-profit sectors;
- Knowledge or experience of disability;
- Strategic leadership and organisational management;
- Board level experience in complex organisations;
- Relationship management with stakeholders.
Ordinary Member
Candidates must demonstrate experience and/or relevant skills in at least two of the following areas:
- Knowledge or experience of disability;
- Relevant experience in employment, education, social care, social partnership, technology, assistive technology, communication, PR, AI;
- Experience in mental health issues and/or policy implementation;
- Research experience and/or knowledge of statistics or data analytics;
- Representation from diverse groups within Irish society;
- Knowledge of financial management, audit, risk analysis, and reporting;
- Knowledge of corporate governance and compliance in the public sector;
- Other relevant expertise areas such as medical, ICT, academia.
Desirable:
- A genuine interest and commitment to building governance capacity, learning and engaging with the work of the NDA;
- Ability to contribute constructively to an organisation, committee, or relevant body;
- Previous board experience in either the private, public, or not-for-profit sector;
- Knowledge of the Irish policy system, or policy issues relevant to disability or Universal Design.
