About the Role

St. Michael’s House provides a comprehensive range of services and supports to men, women, and children with disabilities and their families in 170 locations in the greater Dublin Area. It supports 1,953 people and this has an impact on thousands of family members. St. Michael’s House is a company funded by the Health Service Executive (HSE), TUSLA, and the Department of Education and Skills. (Figures from 1st May 2021).

St. Michael’s House supports include; Residential supports and Independent living, Clinical supports, Day supports, Schools, Respite supports and Vocational training services.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Basic Grade Social Worker to support children and their families in their community, presenting with complex needs arising from a combination of intellectual, physical, and/or sensory disabilities. The Social Worker is a valuable member of the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT), will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team, in line with family-centred practice and Progressing Disability Services (PDS) principles. Services are community-based providing interventions and supports to children and families in their home, clinic, school, and local community.

The structure within each CDNT comprises a Social Work Team Leader, Senior Practitioner, and Basic Grade posts. There will be opportunities for training, regular clinical supervision, and ongoing support is provided.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have the following:

• Degree or Masters in Social Work or equivalent
• National Qualification in Social Work (NQSW)
• Be fully registered with CORU
• One year post qualification experience of working with children and families
• Be committed to the delivery of high-quality, person-centred, community-based services
• Have excellent communication, time management skills, and the ability to work in a self-directed manner
• Full clean drivers license and access to a car

Desirable criteria:

• Experience working in children’s disability services
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team

Location: Kilbarrack, Dublin

Contract: Permanent, Part-time (0.5 WTE)

Salary: €51,127–€73,811 per year
