About the Role
Muiríosa Foundation supports individuals (and their families) with an intellectual disability and/or autism to live self-directed, connected and fulfilling lives. Currently we employ over 1,700 staff and support people in Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Longford, Kildare, Tipperary, Kilkenny.
The successful candidate will become a key member of an evolving psychological services team led by the Principal Psychology Manager. The post will involve close collaborative working with the Senior Psychologist. The post holder will provide psychological supports to a broad range of individuals with intellectual disabilities, Autism and mental health concerns. The office base is negotiable - Portarlington or Monasterevin.

We examine our own behaviour. We acknowledge that human distress is often a frustration response resulting from chronic stress. Behaviour therapists base interventions on a comprehensive assessment of each person’s strengths, needs and within the context of their environment. Although the post is for normal office hours, the successful candidate will be committed to a high degree of flexibility. The Muiríosa Foundation promotes a human rights-based approach. Requirements
An honours primary degree in psychology or equivalent (essential).
Post-graduate professional qualification in behavioural psychology or equivalent (e.g. BCBA) or working towards same (essential).
Eligible for graduate of the Psychological Society of Ireland (essential).
Relevant experience and demonstrable skills in working with people with intellectual disabilities and Autistic adults with high support needs (essential).
Experience in designing and developing individualised support arrangements for adults with exceptional needs.
A knowledge of evidence-based interventions for families and staff teams supporting people who present with complex support needs (essential).
Demonstrated competencies in delivering staff training.
An understanding of the principles of social role valorisation.
A commitment to person-centred values.
Willingness and availability to work flexible hours in response to service demands (essential).
Full driving license, access to car and ability to travel across a broad geographical area (essential).

Tenure: 78 hrs a fortnight – Fixed Term Maternity Leave Cover
Salary: Indicative HSE pay scale for this grade, effective Jun 2026: €76,363–€87,873 per year.
