About the Role
Mayo University Hospital is recruiting a Cardiac Physiologist, Chief II (Fiseolaí Cairdiach, Príomh-Fhiseolaí II) on a permanent wholetime basis. This is a senior cardiac diagnostics role within HSE West and North West, offering the opportunity to lead complex cardiac physiology services at one of the region's key acute hospitals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee advanced cardiac diagnostic procedures, including echocardiography, exercise stress testing, ambulatory monitoring, and pacemaker/ICD follow-up
- Provide senior clinical and technical leadership within the cardiac physiology department
- Support the training, supervision, and clinical development of junior cardiac physiology staff
- Ensure all diagnostic procedures are carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient care
- Contribute to service planning, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental policy development
- Liaise closely with cardiology consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team on patient management
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with relevant clinical governance frameworks
Requirements
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of post-qualification experience in cardiac diagnostics relevant to the role, as stated in the official advertisement
- Hold a relevant cardiac physiology qualification recognised for HSE appointment purposes
- Significant post-qualification clinical experience at senior or chief grade level in cardiac physiology
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice
Salary & Benefits
€62,332 – €85,524 per annum (HSE Cardiac Physiologist, Chief II scale, 8-point scale, plus LSIs where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.
