Care Assistant - Autism Services in Limerick

About the Role

Corlann is the new name for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Corlann provides services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. Funded under Section 38 of the Health Act, we remain deeply committed to a person-centred approach—one that honours each individual’s strengths, aspirations, and rights. Our aim is always to provide, as far as possible, personalised supports that empower people to identify and achieve their own life goals, and to live as valued, equal, and active citizens in their communities.

The role of a Care Assistant involves providing a key-working caring role for a group of People Supported by the Services. This role comprises two main elements. Firstly the Care Assistant is responsible for all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being. Secondly, a major focus of the Care Assistant role is to assist and support People Supported by the Services with development on Individual Plan's and achievement of associated outcomes. In addition, a critical component of this role is to support People Supported by the Services in community participation and integration.

This position involves:

• Supporting two individuals in their own individualised apartments.
• Promoting independence, choice and life skills.
• Support structure daily routines and community engagement with meaningful activities.
• Delivering structured, person centred care in line with assessed needs and care planning processes.
• Implementing positive behaviour strategies.
• Maintain a calm predictable and supportive environment.

Requirements

• Have a minimum QQI Level 5 qualification in an appropriate or relevant field.
• Hold a full manual driving license which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads.
• Demonstrate experience working with individuals with autism, intellectual disability and complex needs.
• Have knowledge of person centred planning and knowledge of person directed and individualised support approaches.
• Excellent communication skills.
