The HSE West and North West is seeking a Care Assistant (Intellectual Disability Day Services) for permanent, whole-time, part-time, and specified purpose posts. The role is based in Day Services - Intellectual Disability Services, located in Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal, and West Cavan. Specific locations include Rosses Day Service Cleveragh Sligo Town, Gallagher House Tubbercurry Co. Sligo, and Copperbeach Cloonamahon, Collooney, Co. Sligo. The successful candidate may be required to work in any service area within the vicinity as needed. The role involves sleepovers, night duty, and weekend shifts, managed under the European Working Time Directive, and may require rotation across different locations.
This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants. A panel may be formed from this campaign to fill current and future vacancies of full or part-time duration.
About the Role
Day Services provide social, rehabilitative, and life-skill-building activities for adults with disabilities. These services aim to enhance choice, independence, personal and social development, and improve clients' wellbeing. Activities include social and recreational activities, rehabilitative training, health monitoring, and personal care, all tailored to individual goals, interests, and preferences. Day Services also support advocacy, communication skills, and social and community inclusion, promoting increased community participation, education development, and identifying employment and training needs. A "Human Rights Based Approach" is used with regular reporting on rights outcomes. The services follow the New Directions policy approach, ensuring person-centered care and community inclusion.
