About the Role

The HSE South West (Kerry and Cork) is inviting applications for the post of Catering Assistant at Mallow General Hospital, Cork. This is a permanent, wholetime position open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Requirements

Candidates should typically meet the following criteria for this grade (please confirm exact eligibility criteria against the official Job Specification):

  • Demonstrate experience in a catering, food service, or similar support environment
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a relevant food safety/HACCP certification
  • Possess good communication and teamworking skills
  • Be capable of undertaking the physical demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and manual handling
  • Be flexible regarding working hours, including shift and weekend work as required
  • Have the requisite health and character to carry out the duties of the post

Details

Salary is in accordance with the Catering Assistant (Grade Code 4123) pay scale, effective 1 June 2026: €36,407 – €44,087 per annum (9-point scale). New entrants commence on the first point of the scale, with incremental progression subject to satisfactory performance.
