About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 provides clinical and professional leadership within the theatre department, taking a lead role in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. The post holder supports the CNM2 and Nursing Management team in the day-to-day operational running of the unit, staff supervision, and the maintenance of standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and act as a resource to nursing staff within the theatre setting.
- Support the co-ordination and management of the department, including staffing, rostering and resource use.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based perioperative care in line with HSE and NMBI standards.
- Contribute to staff development, mentoring, and the maintenance of a positive learning environment.
- Participate in quality improvement, audit, and risk management activities.
Requirements
- Be registered in the General division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland), or be entitled to be so registered.
- Have the requisite clinical, managerial and administrative knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the role.
- Post-registration experience relevant to the theatre/perioperative setting (specific years to be confirmed against the Job Specification).
Salary & Benefits
The salary scale for Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Grade 2127) ranges from €57,780 to €68,046 per annum (8-point scale), effective 1 June 2026 in line with DoH Circular 2/2026. Placement on the scale is determined in accordance with HSE incremental credit rules.
