About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join the Resuscitation Officer Nursing team within Children’s Health Ireland (CHI). CHI is leading on the clinical and operational transformation of acute paediatric healthcare and consists of hospitals at Crumlin, Temple Street and Tallaght as well as an Urgent Care Centre at Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown.

The Resuscitation Officer (RTO) will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of the Resuscitation Service within CHI sites. This will involve planning, organisation, implementation and evaluation of all Basic and Advanced life support training for appropriate personnel. A core responsibility will be the supervision and training of the multidisciplinary team in resuscitation and in particular, training on identification and responding to the clinically deteriorating patient to prevent cardiac arrest, and on general resuscitation issues in line with International, national and local strategy and service priorities. The post holder will act as an expert in resuscitation where appropriate, providing advice on an all aspects of resuscitation training, education and practice. The Resuscitation Training Officer (RTO) will be responsible for the supervision, review and audit of resuscitation procedures. The RTO will work with colleagues to create good working relationships that promote teamwork, innovation and encourages motivation and high standards of resuscitation practice, high quality care and patient safety.

Requirements

Skills and attributes

• Successful completion of Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) provider Course
• NMBI registered on the Children’s Division and/or the General Division
• 5 years post registration Children’s Nursing experience
• 3 years experience in area of Resuscitation

Eligibility criteria, qualifications and experience

• Be registered on the Children’s Division and/or the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
• Have at least 5 years post registration Children’s Nursing experience in an acute setting, 3 of which must be in the specialty area of Resuscitation, PICU, ED, or related area.
• Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role
• Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level
• Successful completion of Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS).
