Clinical Nurse Specialist Infectious Diseases in County Sligo

About the Role

Sligo University Hospital provides high-quality healthcare to the people of Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal and West Cavan. SUH provides Acute Inpatient, Outpatient, and Day Services as well as Regional Specialty Services in Ophthalmology and Ear, Nose and Throat Services. SUH has a Medical Academy with NUI Galway which includes clinical rotations/ education for medical students from NUI Galway on Sligo University Hospital Campus.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Infectious Diseases (ID) post will provide support to the ID in-patients and outpatient's service providing specialist nursing expertise in infectious diseases with the priority to advance the nursing services in SUH. The role encompasses comprehensive management of infections such as blood-borne viruses, including HIV and hepatitis, as well as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), TB and the other conditions requiring ID input. There will also be a role in supporting the OPAT service. This will be in collaboration with the ID consultant(s) and team. This position is essential for ensuring the highest standards of care for patients requiring management of these conditions.

There is currently one whole-time Clinical Nurse Specialist Infectious Diseases post which will be filled on a permanent basis in the Medical Speciality Directorate, Sligo University Hospital.
