About the Role

Corlann is the new name for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Corlann provides services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. Funded under Section 38 of the Health Act, we remain deeply committed to a person-centred approach—one that honours each individual’s strengths, aspirations, and rights. Our aim is always to provide, as far as possible, personalised supports that empower people to identify and achieve their own life goals, and to live as valued, equal, and active citizens in their communities.

The Community Outreach Facilitator will provide a key-working supportive role and assist in the delivery of community support to individuals. Responsibilities include Upskilling, Advocacy, Daily Living Supports, Education, Employment Support, External Agency interaction, Health and Wellbeing promotion and Lone Working. The role requires the ability to use your own initiative and work independently whilst adopting a person-centred, integrative approach. A vital part of our Community Outreach worker role is developing a community profile through; researching the local area, linking with local organisations and clubs, liaising with educational and training bodies and building positive and lasting relationships with all public and private services who assist the individuals we support to live independent lives in their communities.

Requirements

QQI Level 6 or higher is essential, relevant to the Social Care sector, Child Care, Therapy Assistant, Community Development, Creative Digital Media, Creative Arts, Arts and Design. Experience in designing and implementing programmes to enable the post holder to carry out successfully the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability is desirable. Training will be provided. Candidates must have a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience of working with individuals with an Intellectual Disability, mental health difficulties and behaviours that challenge. Proficiency in Microsoft is essential. Candidates from outside the EU must also hold the required permits to work. Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. A full clean Driving Licence (Class B) is an essential requirement of this post. Experience in the area of housing, addiction, mental health supports, is desirable.

Details

Location: Fáilte House, Ballybane, Galway. This job location may change depending on the needs of the service. The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer. Travelling expenses at the appropriate rate will be paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty. The successful candidates will be required to drive the service vehicles as necessary. Working Hours: 78 hours per fortnight which will include working days, evenings, weekends and public holidays. Annual Leave: 23 days per annum (pro rata for part time). Salary: €36,291–€52,406 per year. Tenure: Permanent, full-time, and pensionable. Closing date: 4 Sept 2026.
