Corlann provides services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. Funded under Section 38 of the Health Act, we remain deeply committed to a person-centred approach—one that honours each individual’s strengths, aspirations, and rights. Our aim is always to provide, as far as possible, personalised supports that empower people to identify and achieve their own life goals, and to live as valued, equal, and active citizens in their communities.

Community Support Workers provide a key-working supportive role and assist in the delivery of community support to individuals with Mild Intellectual Disability and sometimes a secondary diagnosis of Mental Health, some of whom may present with behaviours or lifestyles that can be deemed as challenging. This role comprises of mainly one to one working with individuals in the local community or sometimes in their own homes. A vital part of our Community Support Worker role is developing a community profile through; researching the local area, linking with local organisations and clubs, liaising with educational and training bodies and building positive and lasting relationships with all public and private services who assist the individuals we support to live independent lives in their communities. A major focus of the Community Support Worker role will also be encouraging and assisting individuals supported to develop their own life plans based around needs and interests. The Community Support Worker will work closely and inclusively with significant others involved in the individuals life such as family / next of kin and be supported and guided their practice by service social work, psychology, psychiatry and management when required.

Requirements

• Candidates must have a good general education. A recognised qualification appropriate to the field of intellectual disability is an advantage. QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable.
• Candidates must have a minimum of one years’ experience of working with individuals with an Intellectual Disability. Candidates must have a minimum of six months experience of working with individuals with Mental Health Disability or individuals who display behaviours that challenge.
• Candidates who will bring enthusiasm, professionalism, confidence and creativity to our services.
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post.
• IT skills are also required. FCS use online tools for report writing, recording, planning and dissemination of information.
• Candidates must have access to their own vehicle and hold a full clean Driving Licence (Class B), which is an essential requirement of this post.
• Candidates from outside the EU must also hold the required permits to work in this area.
• Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.

Salary: €34,881–€48,434 per year
