About the Role

Almac Group is a global leader in advancing human health. We provide a range of expert services across the drug development lifecycle to pharmaceutical and biotech companies, supporting them in finding treatments for patients.

This 12-month placement is ideal for a Life Sciences student looking to gain valuable industry experience before returning to university to complete their degree. This is an office-based position rather than a laboratory-based placement. While you’ll be supporting the validation and commissioning of laboratory equipment and computerised systems, the role itself is primarily focused on documentation, report writing, reviewing validation and commissioning protocols, maintaining records and schedules, and supporting compliance activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing validation and commissioning protocols and documentation
  • Preparing and completing periodic review reports
  • Maintaining validation records, documentation files, databases and electronic schedules
  • Supporting the validation and commissioning of laboratory equipment and computerised systems
  • Reviewing user accounts and following up on identified findings
  • Supporting the recording and documentation of relevant quality events
  • Supporting changes, updates and retirement of validated systems
  • Liaising with colleagues to ensure documentation and system requirements are met in line with relevant quality and regulatory standards

Requirements

To be considered for this placement, you must:

  • Be currently studying towards a BSc or equivalent qualification in a Life Science-related discipline
  • Be prepared to undertake a 12-month, full-time placement before returning to university to complete your programme
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Have good analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Be confident using Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Have eligibility to work in the UK/IE with no restrictions OR possess a valid work permit that will allow you to take up full time employment in the UK/IE

It would be advantageous if you have practical laboratory experience, including exposure to laboratory reporting, equipment maintenance or calibration, or typical laboratory instrumentation. Knowledge of validation requirements within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry would also be beneficial.
