About the Role

Corlann is the new name for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Corlann provides services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. Funded under Section 38 of the Health Act, we remain deeply committed to a person-centred approach—one that honours each individual’s strengths, aspirations, and rights. Our aim is always to provide, as far as possible, personalised supports that empower people to identify and achieve their own life goals, and to live as valued, equal, and active citizens in their communities.

Corlann – West Region provide a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of the service is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community, in line with best practice both nationally and internationally. Working in partnership with each person supported by services, we aim to create opportunities for people supported by services to have ordinary life experiences and to be closely connected to family and friends. We are committed to supporting people to live a life of their choosing.

Orchard Services in Gort, Co. Galway are a community based Service. The vision of the service is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community. Our focus is to form a relationship / partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships.

Staff allocation could be either within Centre based residential/day units, or in the community as Service needs.

We wish to recruit an innovative, creative, visionary person who will relish the opportunity to assist in achieving this vision. We are looking for an individual who will be flexible and adapt to the needs of particular individuals they support and are open to change.

Requirements

Qualifications/Experience:

• A full clean Driving Licence (Class D1) and CPC examinations are essential for the appointee to drive the transport that is assigned to the Service. This must be produced and checked at the interview.
• Applicants must have relevant minibus driving experience.
• Experience of working with persons with an intellectual disability would be an advantage.
• Experience in general maintenance provision is an advantage.

• Staff will be expected to network with local community groups and develop positive links for the individuals who use the service.
• Keep up to date with current practice.

Driving Assessment: Applicants may be required to undergo a Minibus Driving assessment by an Assessor nominated by Corlann.

Details

Location: Orchard Services, Gort, Co. Galway

Contract: Permanent, part-time, 50 hours a fortnight based on a 5 day duty roster. Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 7am - 7pm to meet Service needs. On occasion, you may be required to work weekends and public holidays as service needs require.

Salary: €36,651–€45,939 per year
