HSE Dublin and South East has been formed as part of the Slaintecare programme. The health region is responsible for the delivery of acute and community healthcare across South Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny and South Tipperary.
About the Role
The Role is dual purpose with a large clinical component and also a supportive role to the Principal Dental Surgeon in the day-to-day management of the service. The successful candidate will have to ensure the service meets all current best practices, aids the implementation of change, participates in audit cycle, and provides clinical care for eligible groups.
The Post is both clinical and administrative. The post-holder will assist the Principal Dental Surgeon in the day to day running of Dental Services in the area, including the implementation and evaluation of standards, guidelines and policies and will work closely as required with other Senior Administrative Dental Surgeons within HSE Dublin South and Wicklow to encourage standardisation of access to services across the IHA.
Requirements
Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
- Are registered, or are eligible for registration, with the Dental Council of Ireland
- Have three years satisfactory post qualification experience in the practice of public health dentistry or hospital dentistry or a combination of both.
- Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability) and have a satisfactory knowledge of the administrative aspects of the dental services, for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration with the Dental Council of Ireland.
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
