Galway University Hospitals, comprising of University Hospital Galway (UHG) and Merlin Park University Hospital (MPUH), provide a comprehensive range of services to emergency and elective patients on an inpatient, outpatient and day care basis across the two sites. GUH play a leadership role in acute service delivery providing regional services for a wide range of specialities and is also a designated supra regional centre for cancer and cardiac services serving a catchment area in the region of one million people along the West from Donegal to Tipperary North. UHG is a Model 4 hospital providing 24/7 acute surgery, acute medicine, and critical care. GUH is recognised for Higher Medical Training in all specialities. The West and North West region provides acute and specialist hospital and community services to the West and North West of Ireland – counties Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and adjoining counties. The region comprises of 7 hospitals across 8 sites. The region’s Academic Partner is NUI Galway. The region covers one third of the land mass of Ireland, it provides health care to a population of 830,000, employs over 20,000 staff.

Location: Galway. HSE Area: HSE West and North West Region. Staff Category: Nursing & Midwifery. Contract Type: Specified Purpose, Whole Time. Internal/External: External. Proposed Interview Dates: Interviews will be held as soon as possible after closing date. Candidates will normally be given at least one weeks' notice of interview. The timescale may be reduced in exceptional circumstances.
Requirements
Demonstrate depth and breadth of post registration nursing experience in the specialist area of Oncology/Cancer Disease as relevant to the role. Have undertaken or agree to undertake, within an agreed timeframe, the Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate. Have undertaken or agree to undertake, within an agreed timeframe, the Nurse Prescribing of Ionising Radiation Certificate.
