About the Role

Bantry General Hospital is seeking compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistants to join its team in permanent part-time positions. Role Overview

Healthcare Assistants play an essential role in supporting nursing staff and helping to ensure patients receive safe, respectful and person-centred care. Successful candidates will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, assisting with the daily care needs of patients while promoting dignity, comfort and independence.

There are currently multiple permanent part-time vacancies available in Bantry General Hospital. A panel may also be created from this campaign to fill current and future permanent or specified purpose vacancies of both full-time and part-time duration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
  • Support nursing staff in delivering safe and effective patient care.
  • Promote patient comfort, dignity and independence.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions to nursing staff.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and infection prevention.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers and patient positioning where appropriate.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming clinical environment.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Follow HSE policies, procedures and best practice guidelines.
  • Provide compassionate care while respecting patient confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • Meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the official HSE Job Specification.
  • Possess the qualifications and competencies required for the Health Care Assistant Grade 6075.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary & Benefits

€36,651 – €45,939 per annum (HSE Health Care Assistant Grade 6075 salary scale, 9-point scale, plus Long Service Increments where applicable). Salary is payable on a pro-rata basis for this permanent part-time position and is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective from 1 June 2026.
