About the Role

Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) is leading on the clinical and operational transformation of acute paediatric healthcare and consists of hospitals at Crumlin, Temple Street and Tallaght as well as an Urgent Care Centre at Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown.

Enhanced Care refers to the need for additional or extraordinary care, beyond what is provided for, within average daily staffing levels.

The post holder will work as part of a wider healthcare team in providing high quality and compassionate care to the child and young person and family who requires enhanced care or 1:1 specialling including children and young people with mental health needs or behaviours that challenge, other medical needs, or that your manager and other registered health practitioners delegate to you, in line with relevant standards, policies and protocols as required.

The Enhanced HCA role will be part of a team providing 24/7 care to the patients. This will require candidates to rotate day to nights and include weekend working. The rostered hours of work may change to meet the requirements of the services.

You will be required to maintain, enhance and develop your knowledge, skills and aptitudes necessary to respond to a changing situation.

The Job Description must be regarded as an outline of the major areas of accountability at the present time. It will be reviewed and assessed on an on-going basis in line with Hospital and Legislative changes.

  • Certificate in Healthcare Support at QQI (FETAC) Level 5 or an Equivalent Relevant Healthcare Qualification
  • Previous Acute Hospital Experience
