About the Role
University Hospital Limerick is seeking motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistants to join its patient care team on a permanent whole-time basis. This Healthcare Assistant opportunity in Limerick offers the chance to support frontline healthcare delivery within one of Ireland’s busiest acute hospital environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care and daily living activities
- Support nursing staff in delivering high standards of patient care
- Maintain clean, safe, and organised clinical environments
- Assist with patient mobility and transfers where required
- Observe and report changes in patient conditions to nursing staff
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families
- Adhere to infection prevention and health and safety procedures
- Contribute positively to multidisciplinary teamwork within the hospital
Requirements
- Relevant Healthcare Assistant qualification or equivalent healthcare support experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Commitment to delivering compassionate patient-centred care
- Understanding of infection prevention and patient safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Flexibility to work across hospital services and shifts where required
- Previous acute hospital experience is desirable but not essential
Salary & Benefits
Salary will be aligned with the HSE Health Care Assistant Grade 6075 pay scale. This permanent whole-time role offers access to public sector employment benefits including annual leave entitlements, pension schemes, training opportunities, and career progression pathways within HSE Mid West.
Working hours will be based on hospital operational requirements and may include shift work across weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.
