The purpose of this Clinical Nurse Specialist (Liaison Psychiatry) post is to deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008.

The CNS (Liaison Psychiatry) UHL caseload includes all service users over the age of 18 who are admitted to the Liaison Psychiatric Service with University Hospital Limerick (UHL). The successful candidate will join the existing Liaison Psychiatry team in UHL. This service is a 7/7 service 24hrs/day. A flexible/rotating work pattern applies.

The CNS (Liaison Psychiatry) will play a key role in the multidisciplinary psychiatric team. S/he will undertake assessments of service users referred to the service in the region and undertake appropriate clinical interventions as well as providing support and advice to the service user and significant others. S/he will be responsible for ensuring that service users have access to the most appropriate available services and are supported throughout this process.

And will manage and deliver all public health and social care services in

There are more than 400,000 people living in this region.

Mid-West Community Healthcare delivers a broad range of community services, provided within and outside of the acute hospital system and includes Primary Care, Older Persons, Disabilities, Mental Health and Health & Wellbeing. Community services are delivered through a range of direct and indirect services delivered directly or through partnerships with HSE teams, Section 38/39 agencies and private providers under SLA agreements.

Public Health Mid-West

The Public Health team work to protect, support, enable and advise on the health and wellbeing of the population. They deliver services across four public health domains:

Community Healthcare Services are the broad range of services in a non-acute hospital setting, delivered as close as possible to people’s homes at the right time, in the right place, by the right team.

There are Primary Care Centres in the Region and specialist teams working in Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing, Social Care and Disability Services. Services are provided in various settings including the service user’s own home, day hospitals, community nursing units, hostels, specialist day care centres, training centres, respite care, and residential services.

Our region encompasses six acute hospitals and the services delivered include inpatient scheduled care, unscheduled / emergency care, maternity services, outpatient and diagnostic services and our community healthcare services, incorporating primary care, social care, and mental health services.
