About the Role

Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services is a 200-bed facility providing specialist care for people with a wide range of needs from rehabilitation to end-of-life care in Harold’s Cross Hospice, Blackrock Hospice and Wicklow Hospice. The Senior Dietitian (Specified Purpose contract) role is based in Harold’s Cross, Dublin. This is a temporary position with a specified purpose duration contract, funded by the H.S.E. The role is available as 1.0 WTE (35 hours per week) or 0.5 WTE (17.5 hours per week).

The Senior Dietitian will provide a specialist dietetic service for clients in the areas of palliative care and/or care of the older person. The role involves developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating nutrition and dietetic services, delivering care within a multidisciplinary team approach, and providing expert opinion, advice, and guidance to dietetic colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualifications: BSc Human Nutrition & Dietetics or a comparable qualification recognised by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU. Maintain live annual registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitian’s Registration Board at CORU. Full driving license.
  • Experience: At least three years of relevant clinical experience, including clinical experience in the management of Enteral Nutrition and evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable Requirements

  • Qualifications: Postgraduate education in a Dietetic or Healthcare related topic.
  • Experience: Clinical experience in the management of Parenteral Nutrition, relevant previous dietetic experience in areas such as Palliative Care, Care of the Older Person, Neurology, Oncology/Haematology, or services for people with life-limiting conditions. Previous research/clinical audit related to palliative care or care of the older person.

  • Pension Scheme: Mandatory enrolment in the appropriate Public Sector pension scheme.
  • Holidays: 30 days per annum pro rata
  • Hours of Work: 35 hours/17.5 hours per week, with flexibility to work outside normal office hours as needed.
