In operation since 1879, Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services is a 200-bed facility providing specialist care for people with a wide range of needs from rehabilitation to end-of-life care in Harold’s Cross Hospice, Blackrock Hospice and Wicklow Hospice.

The Grade III Clerical/Administrative Officer will provide an efficient, professional and courteous administrative service supporting the Wicklow Hospice Inpatient Unit and cross cover for Community Palliative Care Service.
The postholder will regularly communicate with patients, families, members of the public, healthcare professionals and hospice staff. They must demonstrate sensitivity, discretion and compassion, recognising that many people contacting or attending the service may be experiencing serious illness, distress or bereavement.
This is a permanent, fully onsite HSE Grade III position based at Wicklow Hospice.
The normal working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Due to the operational requirements of the Inpatient Unit and Community Palliative Care Service, the morning commencement time is fixed. There is no working-from-home or hybrid-working arrangement attached to this post. The 8:00 a.m. commencement time cannot be changed to facilitate personal travel arrangements.
Requirements
Essential Requirements:
- A Leaving Certificate or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- A recognised secretarial, business administration or ICT qualification.
- Due to lack of regular public transport and the location of the Wicklow hospice, the successful candidate must have a full clean drivers license and access to appropriate transportation.
- A minimum of three years’ office, clerical or secretarial experience gained within the previous five years.
- Proven proficiency and practical experience using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience managing incoming and outgoing post and correspondence.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy office or healthcare environment.
- A clear understanding of confidentiality, discretion and data protection.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
