Corlann is the new name for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Corlann provides services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. Corlann – West Region is seeking 2 permanent full-time and 3 permanent part-time Instructor/Supervisor positions at Orchard Services, Gort, Co. Galway. The successful candidates will be involved in the development of a day service provision in Gort, County Galway. The successful candidate will also be involved in the implementation of an educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal development programme for adults with an intellectual disability. In line with new directions and extended opening hours the successful candidates will also be responsible for providing family support, coordinating social groups and evening activities and providing one to one supports in the community as required.

The successful candidates will also have responsibility in a key worker role for the people supported by the services to form links and interests and partnerships with other community groups.

This role will involve working with adults with Autism and complex needs. The instructor will be responsible in supporting individuals with all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes support with meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual.

Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Team Manager/Service Coordinator/Area Manager.

Works With: People supported by the services and their families, Multidisciplinary Team, Team Leader / Team Manager/Service Coordinator / Area Manager, Frontline staff, GRETB Tutors.

Requirements

• Candidates require a level 6 qualification relevant to the health sector.
• Candidates must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience working in ID Services. Experience working in day services, designing and implementing programmes to enable them to carry out successfully the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability. Experience in establishing links with the community and micro enterprises is also an advantage.
• A full clean manual Irish Driver’s Licence is essential.
• Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post.

Salary: €36,291–€52,406 per year.

Annual Leave: 23 days per annum.

Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The Employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
