About the Role

Corlann is the new name for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Corlann provides services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. Funded under Section 38 of the Health Act, we remain deeply committed to a person-centred approach—one that honours each individual’s strengths, aspirations, and rights. Our aim is always to provide, as far as possible, personalised supports that empower people to identify and achieve their own life goals, and to live as valued, equal, and active citizens in their communities.

The Team Leader has a pivotal role in managing the day to day delivery of services. The Team Leader will provide leadership and supervision to teams while ensuring the development of the service in line with national standards and best practice. The main responsibilities are to assist the Team Manager with the management of the services, such as – person centred planning in line with Personal Outcome Measures ethos and practice, resource management and staffing - including rosters, staff development, facilitating communication and professional leadership in order to ensure a good quality of life for the people supported.

Requirements

Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition have:

  • A relevant 3rd level qualification in Nursing and current Live Register Certificate from NMBI
  • Or be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board - CORU
  • Or be eligible under the Section 91 (existing practitioner) route for registration in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board - CORU (evidence of application status is necessary).
  • Hold an appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care Management (QQI Level 6) is a necessary requirement of the post. If the successful applicant does not hold such a qualification, a commitment to obtaining the qualification prior to taking up the post will be required.
  • Previous experience of effectively managing a staff team and demonstrating proven ability to pro-actively lead, motivate, empower and achieve results through people is an advantage.
  • A minimum of three 3 years’ post qualification experience, working with people with an Intellectual Disability is essential.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to community integration and active citizenship for all people with disabilities with experience in the area of human rights and advocacy.
  • Experience of working in the area of autism and behaviours of concern would be an advantage.

Details

Location: Hyde Services - This post will be based in Kilkerrin, North Galway or Roscommon Town.

Contracted hours will depend on the grade of the successful candidate - i.e. 78 hours a fortnight (SCL grade) or 75 hours a fortnight (CNM1 grade) rostered flexibly on a 7 day duty roster.

The Team leader will work as a frontline member of the team with protected time to carry out specific team leader duties. In addition, a sleep-in and/or night duty commitment may be a requirement of posts in residential services for which the appropriate allowance will be paid.

Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures quality and person centred planning system requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each person supported.

Annual Leave: Leave will be granted according to the agreed leave assigned to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. Social Care Leader or CNM1. Annual leave must be planned in advance with the Team Manager to ensure appropriate and adequate cover is provided for the service.

Tenure: Permanent, Full-Time and Pensionable.

A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Team Leader appointments within Hyde Services may be offered over the next 6 to 12 months.
