Paediatric Psychologist, Various Roles in Dublin

About the Role

Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) is leading on the clinical and operational transformation of acute paediatric healthcare and consists of hospitals at Crumlin, Temple Street and Tallaght as well as an Urgent Care Centre at Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown.

The post holder will provide a psychological service to children and families referred to the Psychology Services at CHI. Once the new hospital opens at the St. James’ site, the post holder may work at that location and/or across the two Urgent Care Centres at Tallaght and at Connolly. The Psychology service provides psychological support to children who present with a range of psychological difficulties that occur in the context of a medical illness and/or physical symptoms. Post holders will work with a range of medical teams and provide a psychology service on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

The successful candidate may be required to work across CHI sites and services in line with organisational requirements and the development of the new children’s hospital and associated services.

Requirements

• Hold a recognised University degree or diploma obtained with first or second class honours in which psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject or hold a recognised qualification equivalent to above
• Hold a relevant post-graduate professional qualification in Psychology recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland.
• Or
• Hold a postgraduate professional psychology qualification validated by the Department of Health and Children. Applicants should refer to the Dept. of Health & Children regulations on the Employment of Psychologists in the Health Services, as well as, the PSI Guidelines on Post Graduate Training & Qualifications.
• Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and their families with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature.
