About the Role

The Houses of the Oireachtas Service is now recruiting for suitably qualified and committed individuals to take up the role of Parliamentary Usher(s). This is an exciting opportunity for talented and enthusiastic individuals who are looking to embrace new challenges, do purposeful work and make a real difference to the Irish State and its people.

Main Duties of the Job

Parliamentary Ushers are responsible for the provision of a first-rate and professional system of security and are generally the first point of contact with visitors to the Houses of the Oireachtas. They are also responsible for conducting tours through Leinster House and explaining its history and operation. In addition, Ushers are also in regular contact with Members of both Houses as well as staff of the Service. The Houses of the Oireachtas Commission is the statutory corporate body responsible for the running of the Houses of the Oireachtas (Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann) and Oireachtas Committees, and the administration and management of the Houses of the Oireachtas Service.
