About the Role
Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is seeking to recruit a Phlebotomist for a permanent whole-time position based in Drogheda, Co. Louth. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy acute hospital laboratory service within HSE Dublin and North East, providing high-quality blood collection services for in-patients and out-patients, including paediatric patients. Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the successful candidate will contribute to delivering safe, accurate, and patient-centred diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect venous and capillary blood samples from in-patients and out-patients.
- Perform blood collection procedures for adult and paediatric patients.
- Accurately identify patients and label specimens in accordance with HSE laboratory procedures.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
- Ensure all specimens are handled, stored, and transported correctly.
- Provide reassurance and professional care to patients during blood collection procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with laboratory quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with laboratory staff, nursing teams, and medical professionals.
Requirements
- Relevant qualifications and eligibility to work as a Phlebotomist within the HSE.
- Experience in venepuncture and capillary blood collection is desirable.
- Ability to work with adult and paediatric patients.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Salary & Benefits
€38,671 – €50,145 per annum (HSE Phlebotomist Grade 3425 salary scale, 9-point scale, plus Long Service Increments where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.
