Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing patients before drawing blood
  • Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process
  • Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas
  • Gathering medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes
  • Verifying patient information and labelling blood samples properly
  • Accurately updating patient information in the organisation’s database
  • Carrying out routine bloods and CDM (Chronic Disease Management) bloods

Requirements

  • Recognised phlebotomy training or equivalent relevant clinical experience
  • Demonstrated competence in venepuncture across a range of patient groups
  • Familiarity with routine and CDM blood profiles
  • Strong attention to detail in sample labelling, verification, and record-keeping
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a patient-centred approach
  • Working knowledge of infection prevention and control standards
