There is currently one permanent whole-time vacancy available in Medical Physics Department. HSE Mid-West. The post holder will be based in the Medical Physics Department, University Hospital Limerick, but will be required to travel to other HSE Mid-West sites as required to fulfil the duties of the post.
A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Senior Physicist for which future specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.
Requirements
- Hold a recognised first or second class honours degree in which Physics was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject. Or Hold a recognised qualification at least equivalent to thereto.
- Have satisfactory relevant experience in the field of Medical Physics.
- Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
- Be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
- Be of good character.
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in QA testing and commissioning of a range of imaging equipment.
- Demonstrate involvement in software applications and experience of computer programming including signal processing and analysis.

HSE Mid West Health Region will manage and deliver all public health and social care services for Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary serving a population of over 413,059 people. The redesign of services will allow new pathways to be developed between acute hospitals, community services, primary care, health & wellbeing and voluntary sectors to develop more integrated, patient-centred care. HSE Mid-West includes all hospital, community healthcare and public health services in the region. This includes: UL Hospitals Group, consisting of University Hospital Limerick, University Maternity Hospital Limerick, Ennis Hospital, Nenagh Hospital, Croom Hospital, St John’s Hospital (voluntary). The Medical Physics Department currently provides scientific and technical support to all the clinical specialities which require the use of X-ray imaging and Nuclear Medicine services to deliver patient care in the Acute Services. Staff provide a broad range of support activities across the Directorates, which includes equipment management, radiation protection services, safety and risk management, Quality Assurance, research, teaching and training.
Reporting Relationship: The post holder will report to the Chief Physicist.
