Registrar in Obs/Gynae - July 2026 Rotation
Portiuncula University Hospital is a Model 3 hospital providing 24/7 acute surgery, acute medicine and critical care along with Emergency Department and maternity services to adults and children in the catchment areas of East Galway, Westmeath, North Tipperary, Roscommon and Offaly. The hospital has natural referral pathways to the Midlands, particularly in respect of patients that are referred in via the Emergency Department and discharged back for appropriate care i.e. orthopaedics, elderly care services etc. In addition, the hospital’s paediatric service has linkages with Crumlin Children’s Hospital for shared care arrangement in relation to oncology.
Portiuncula has academic links with the University of Limerick post-graduate training, Medical Training Schemes for Interns, SHO’s and Registrars and an Overseas Medical Student Programme. In January 2013 a new medical academy opened on site in conjunction with NUI Galway.
Portiuncula University Hospital comprises of 194 beds which includes a brand new 50 bed ward block. Portiuncula University Hospital provides 24/7 acute surgery, acute medicine, critical care, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology along with a 24/7 Emergency Department which had 30,283 attendances in 2023. The hospital serves the catchment areas of East Galway, Westmeath, North Tipperary, Roscommon and Offaly and has a natural referral pathway to the Midlands.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- 2 Years post-internship experience
- An active IMC registration
- Must show evidence of minimum criteria for English language requirements as set out in HSE HR Circular 063/2020
Desirable:
- Experience working in the Irish Healthcare system
- Completed, or working towards the completion of, professional membership exams
