Muiríosa Foundation supports individuals (and their families) with an intellectual disability and/or autism to live self-directed, connected and fulfilling lives. These are additional posts to enhance the current management structure in Laois. Requirements

  • Qualification appropriate to the role e.g. Nursing, Social Care, other relevant qualification.
  • 3 years’ supervisory/managerial experience qualifying them to take on the role of PIC within intellectual disability services.
  • Completed a Management Course.
  • Full current manual driving licence to drive in Ireland.
  • Participation in the regional On-call roster.
  • Experience of supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
  • Displays professional knowledge and skills in order to undertake role.
  • Communication & Interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative and Motivation.
  • Excellent organisational, logistical and I.T skills.
  • Have a robust knowledge and understanding of HIQA standards and statutory requirements and their responsibilities as a Person In Charge.
  • Expected to maintain up to date and accurate records to ensure a high standard of care and support is provided to each resident at all times.
  • Be flexible and capable of managing competing priorities within their workload.
  • Be able to lead teams in the provision of high quality services and achieving objectives.
  • Be able to demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate with the individuals, their families, other professionals and people important in the individuals’ life.
  • Be able to demonstrate an ability to adapt their interpersonal skills within the context of varying situations as they arise.
  • Be expected to work on their own initiative as well as being a team player supporting their colleagues.
  • Support, supervise and motivate the staff teams reporting to them.
  • Have a key focus in supporting the residents to be active citizens and achieve goals identified through their Person Centered Planning Process in their residential/respite service.
  • Be integral in driving forward the ethos of Muiriosa Foundation and promoting self-determination and self-direction for each individual.
  • Willing to undertake education and training as may be required for the role.
  • Willingness to take on the role of PIC.
  • As part of the Role you will be required to travel between locations.
