About the Role

Shandon Travel is celebrating 50 years in business in 2024. One of Ireland’s top travel companies and unique in our offerings, we have offices in Grand Parade in Cork City, in Clonakilty and Bantry [under our West Cork Travel brand]. We also have a unique, long-trading brand aimed at younger travellers, SAYIT (Student and Youth Travel) which has been going for over 25 years. Under our SAYIT brand, we are the largest provider of the J1 USA Visa programme for college students.

Established in 1974, we are one of Ireland’s longest-established travel agencies. The Cruise Centre is our dedicated cruise division, and we’re looking for an experienced cruise professional to manage cruise enquiries [both Ocean and River] and sales. Remote working is a possibility.

We’re looking for someone who has real cruise experience and can use that knowledge when advising customers, selling cruises and managing bookings. If you have taken a number of cruises yourself and are good at sales, even if you have not worked in travel previously, we would be interested in talking to you.

Responsibilities

  • Advise customers and sell cruise holidays across a range of cruise lines, itineraries & cabin types.
  • Manage the full booking administration process: deposits, payment schedules, documentation, and supplier deadlines.
  • Deal with customer queries and provide advice based on your own cruise experience.
  • Keep up to date with new ships, itineraries and cruise industry trends.
  • Support marketing and promotional activity for the cruise department.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all cruise lines.

Requirements

  • Personal cruise experience: you’ve cruised multiple times [even if you have not worked in the travel industry].
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
