About the Role

Senior House Officer / Registrar in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services South West (Cork and Kerry), HSE. Full-time, temporary role.

Requirements

Active registration with the Irish Medical Council is essential. Relevant experience in Psychiatry is essential (minimum 6 Months). Experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health is desirable. Access to own transport is essential to fulfil the requirements of the role.

What are the main duties of this role?
The main duties include participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the provision of medical care to patients, diagnosing and treating patients, ensuring that duties and functions are undertaken in a manner that prioritises the safety and well-being of patients, assessing patients on admission and/or discharge as required and writing detailed reports in the case notes, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, initiating and monitoring treatment, communicating effectively with patients and clients, attending clinics and participating in relevant meetings, case conferences and ward rounds, representing the department/profession/team at meetings and conferences as appropriate, furthering progress knowledge of diagnosis and management, participating in multi-disciplinary clinical audit and proactive risk management and facilitating production of all data / information for same, cooperating with investigations, enquiries or audit relating to the provision of health services, maintaining professional standards in relation to confidentiality and ethics, seeking advice and assistance from the Consultant / Clinical Director/Executive Clinical Director / Employer with any assigned cases or issues that prove to be beyond the scope of his / her professional competence in line with principles of best practice and clinical governance, engaging in technological developments as they apply to the patient and service administration, covering for occasional unplanned absence of colleagues, and performing other duties as required by the supervising Consultant / Clinical Director/Executive Clinical Director / Employer.
