About the Role

Corlann is the new name for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Corlann provides services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. The post holder will report to the Children’s Disability Network Manager (CNDM).

Purpose of the post: To provide a range of Speech and Language therapy supports to children from 0-18 years of age and their families who attend the Network Disability Team, within an interdisciplinary framework and family centred practice.

Location: Woodlands Campus, Dublin Rd. Galway

Tenure: Permanent, Full-time and pensionable

Remuneration: Department of Health Speech and Language Therapist, Senior salary scale (01/06/2026) of € 65,197 x 8 increments – € 76,767 pro rata per annum.

Requirements

The successful candidate must be currently registered with CORU, the regulator for the Health and Social Care professions and eligible for membership of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (I.A.S.L.T.).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor in Science in Clinical Speech and Language Studies, University of Dublin, Trinity College Dublin or,
• Bachelor of Science (Speech and Language Therapy), University College Cork or,
• Bachelor of Science (Speech and Language Therapy), National University of Ireland, Galway
• Master of Science in Speech and Language Therapy (Professional Qualification), University of Limerick or
• A Speech & Language qualification approved for registration with CORU, equivalent to the above.

A dysphagia qualification or equivalent as outlined in “Standards of Practice for Speech & Language Therapists on the Management of Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia)” Irish Association of Speech & Language Therapists (IASLT) 2012 is essential for this post.

A full clean Irish driving licence and use of your own car is an essential requirement.

Fluency in verbal and written English an essential requirement of this post.

Experience:

• A minimum of three years post graduate clinical Speech and Language Therapy experience.
• Clinical experience in the Independent management of feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing disorders is highly desirable.
• A minimum of one year clinical experience in the management of the communication needs of children with complex disabilities.
• Experience in clinical Speech & Language Therapy in a community setting
• Training and / or experience in the use of TEACCH, Lámh and other forms of AAC an advantage.

Details

Working Hours: 70 hours a fortnight. Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8am – 8pm over seven days to meet the requirements of the services. A family centred approach to service delivery and the ongoing transformation of the health service will require employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

Annual Leave: 29 days pro rata per annum.

Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the employer’s discretion.

Travel/Base: The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer. Travelling expenses at the appropriate rate will be paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty. The office location for this job will be on Woodlands Campus.
