About the Role

St. Michael’s House is recruiting a qualified Social Care Worker to join its Day and Residential Services team in Dublin. This permanent, whole-time post offers a meaningful opportunity to support people with intellectual disabilities to live with independence, dignity, and active participation in their communities.

Role Overview

Based within the Day and Residential Services division of St. Michael’s House, the Social Care Worker will provide direct, person-centred support to individuals in both day service and residential settings. Working as part of a committed multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver high-quality, values-led services that uphold the rights and wellbeing of the people in your care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred support and direct care to individuals with intellectual disabilities in day and residential service settings
  • Assist service users with activities of daily living, personal care, and the development of independent living skills
  • Implement and review individual support plans in collaboration with the person, their family, and the wider care team
  • Support individuals to access community facilities, social activities, and meaningful occupation
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with organisational and regulatory requirements
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agencies to promote the rights and wellbeing of service users
  • Apply positive behaviour support strategies in line with individual plans and relevant guidelines
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and continuing professional development

Requirements

  • A relevant Level 7 (or higher) qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications — such as a BA in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, Health and Social Care, or an equivalent award
  • Eligible to register, or currently registered, with CORU as a Social Care Worker
  • Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a person-centred and values-led approach
  • Ability to work flexibly, including shifts, weekends, and as part of a rotating roster
  • A full, clean driving licence may be required depending on the specific service location

Salary & Benefits

This post is remunerated in line with the HSE Social Care Worker (with qualification) salary scale (Grade 3029), effective 1 June 2026. €41,260 – €56,717 per annum (12-point scale). Long Service Increment: €57,789.
