Staff Grade Medical Scientist in Microbiology in Dublin

About the Role

Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) is leading on the clinical and operational transformation of acute paediatric healthcare and consists of hospitals at Crumlin, Temple Street and Tallaght as well as an Urgent Care Centre at Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown.

The purpose of this post is to support the delivery of a quality laboratory service in compliance with the requirements of international standard ISO 15189 in the Microbiology laboratory. The post holder is required to perform a broad range of scientific work in the laboratory under the supervision of senior colleagues. She/he will carry out routine analyses, participate in implementing new methods and will actively participate in the laboratory quality management system.

Requirements

Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the post, possess:

• Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the University of Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street
• Or
• Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from t University College Cork – Cork Institute of Technology course
• Or
• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street of the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994
• Or
• Possess Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology. Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/ Mayo Institute of Technology (awarded prior to 1997)
• Or
• A recognised qualification at least equivalent to the above and
• be a member, or be eligible for membership, of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM)
• and
• Be CORU registered
