Peamount Healthcare is an independent voluntary organisation that operates in partnership with the HSE Health Region, Dublin and Midlands to provide a range of health and social care services. Peamount Healthcare is a registered charity and is directly funded by the HSE under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004. The hospital provides consultant led, multidisciplinary, specialist rehabilitation services to patients at the right time and in the right place, which improve patient outcomes. Peamount Healthcare provides specialist rehabilitation in Neurology, Age-Related, Respiratory and Rheumatology. The services provided also include continuing care services for the older person, adults with neurological disabilities and individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Be registered in the live Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
  • Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be registered in the Intellectual Disability Nurse Division of the live Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
  • At least three years post qualification experience
  • Experience working in the social care setting
  • Experience working with the person with Intellectual Disability
  • Experience working in a lone working environment
  • Full, clean, manual driving license

  • Demonstrated understanding of behaviours of concern
  • Extensive knowledge of safeguarding theory and practice
  • Experience with the Health Information and Quality Authority

  • Strong understanding of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act, with the knowledge to exercise this in care
  • Knowledge of Irish Healthcare
  • Passion to work as a nurse in a social care setting

Details

Tenure: Permanent Full Time & Part Time available

Hours of Work: 37.5 Hours (Full Time)/Various Hours (Part Time) – the allocation of these hours will be at the discretion of the Department Head and in accordance with needs of service

Location of Post: Peamount Healthcare, Newcastle, Co. Dublin

Working Model: Fully Onsite

Annual Leave: As per Health Service Executive (HSE)

Reporting Relationship: Assistant Director of Nursing and Social Care, Clinical Nurse Managers 1, 2 & 3, Person In Charge

Panel: A panel may be created from which permanent and specified purpose contract vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled.

Proposed Interview Date: Week of 3rd/10th August 2026
