About the Role

A permanent Staff Nurse (Theatre) vacancy is now open at Galway University Hospitals, offering an exceptional opportunity to advance your perioperative nursing career within one of Ireland’s leading acute hospital groups. As a Staff Nurse in the Theatre department at Galway University Hospitals (including Merlin Park University Hospital), you will deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care across a dynamic surgical environment. This is a permanent, full-time post with the potential to fill current and future vacancies — including specified purpose and part-time positions — from a supplementary panel formed as a result of this campaign.

Salary & Benefits

€37,788 – €56,032 per annum (HSE Staff Nurse scale, 13-point scale, plus LSIs where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026. Theatre nurses participating in On-Call/Standby Emergency Services may also be eligible for additional on-call and call-out allowances as applicable under HSE Circular 33/2003.

Location

Galway University Hospitals is a major acute hospital group serving the West of Ireland, comprising University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital. Together, they provide a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and specialist services to a large regional population, with the Theatre department supporting a wide breadth of elective and emergency surgical activity. The role is based on-site in Galway.
