About the Role

Corlann is the new name for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Corlann provides services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. Funded under Section 38 of the Health Act, we remain deeply committed to a person-centred approach—one that honours each individual’s strengths, aspirations, and rights. Our aim is always to provide, as far as possible, personalised supports that empower people to identify and achieve their own life goals, and to live as valued, equal, and active citizens in their communities.

Corlann – West Region provide a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of the service is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community, in line with best practice both nationally and internationally. Working in partnership with each person supported by services, we aim to create opportunities for people supported by services to have ordinary life experiences and to be closely connected to family and friends. We are committed to supporting people to live a life of their choosing.

Location: Rosedale School, Woodlands Centre, Renmore, Galway. Rosedale School is managed in partnership by Corlann – west region and the Department of Education and Skills. The children attending Rosedale School are aged between 3 and 18 years of age. Staff work collaboratively to support children who present with a range of complex support needs including some children with significant medical support needs.

Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Deputy Team Leader

Working Hours: 60 hours per fortnight based on a 5-day roster. The successful candidates may be required to work to accommodate an integrated day service, with weekend work, some split duty hours, public holidays, evening/night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs. The Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures quality and person centred planning system requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each person supported.

Requirements

• Candidates must have a good general education. A recognised qualification appropriate to the field of intellectual disability is an advantage. A QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable.

• A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads is also desirable.

• Candidates should have a minimum of six months experience working in a school, healthcare or childcare setting. Experience working with people with an Intellectual Disability and behaviours that challenge is desirable.

• Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.

• Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post. Some basic IT skills are also essential.

Salary: €34,881–€48,434 per year

Tenure: Temporary, part-time, fixed term for 2 years and pensionable.

Annual Leave: 23 days pro rata per annum.
