About the Role
Support Worker (Person Centred Wing) in Kilkenny, Ireland. Muiríosa Foundation supports individuals (and their families) with an intellectual disability and/or autism to live self-directed, connected and fulfilling lives. The Person Centred Wing offers the opportunity to have someone work with you who comes with an exclusively individualised focus on getting to know you and figuring out what needs to happen so that you get the opportunity to create the life you want for yourself. The focus of this role will be to support an individual to realise their vision to leading a good life through Person Centred approaches in line with personal interests, skills, will and preference. The role will support the individuals to become connected and valued within their local community, to provide opportunities for new experiences and to assist each person in developing real and authentic relationships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supporting individuals to develop valued social roles and also have experience in supporting individuals with communication needs and those who may display behaviours of concern and will have experience of person centred planning and knowledge of person directed and individualised support approaches.
Requirements
- FETAC/ QQI Level 5 (Major Award) in Healthcare or equivalent (e.g. Health Service Skills, Healthcare Support) or willingness to undertake a relevant QQI Level 5 Major Award.
- Ability to use own initiative and plan effectively.
- Experience/knowledge of supporting persons with a range of support needs.
- A valid licence to drive a manual vehicle in Ireland.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong initiative and creativity.
- Flexibility and willing to undertake roster covering various houses/locations.
- Suitability as outlined in the introduction to the role.
- Please note that the successful candidate will be required to be available for any day and sleepover shifts. In addition, we require staff members to be willing to work alone in the residents’ homes.
