About the Role

Muiríosa Foundation supports individuals (and their families) with an intellectual disability and/or autism to live self-directed, connected and fulfilling lives. Currently we employ over 1,700 staff and support people in Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Longford, Kildare, Tipperary, Kilkenny. We provide supports through the Regional structure and the Person Centred Wing . Each region exercises a high level of devolved autonomy across all major operational functions including residential homes, day supports, respite. The Person Centred Wing offers the opportunity to have someone work with you who comes with an exclusively individualised focus on getting to know you and figuring out what needs to happen so that you get the opportunity to create the life you want for yourself. There are administration centres in each of the regions of the organisation.

We are seeking to recruit motivated, creative and energetic support workers to join our day services team. The focus of the role will be to lead initiatives in supporting the individuals to live a life of their choosing and what matters most to them. The role will support the individuals to become connected and valued within their local community, to provide opportunities for new experiences and to assist each person in developing real and authentic relationships. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record in supporting individuals to develop valued social roles and have experience in supporting individuals with communication needs and those who may display behaviours of concern and will have experience of person-centred planning and knowledge of person directed and individualised support approaches.

Requirements

  • FETAC/QQI level 5 Major Award in Healthcare Support/Health Service Skills
  • Experience of supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
  • Experience of supporting individuals with a broad range of support needs including behaviours of concern.
  • A valid Full Licence to drive a manual vehicle in Ireland.
  • Adaptable and open communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Supportive, dependable team player.
  • Experience in and commitment to supporting individuals to connect with their local community.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, logistical and IT skills.
  • Suitability as outlined in the introduction to the role.
