Team Leader (Disability Services) in Galway

About the Role

Corlann is the new name for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Corlann provides services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. Funded under Section 38 of the Health Act, we remain deeply committed to a person-centred approach—one that honours each individual’s strengths, aspirations, and rights. The Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the service and will provide leadership and supervision at a local level, ensuring the service delivered is person centred. The successful candidate will initially be assigned to a residential service in a local community; however this work location is subject to change in accordance with service needs. The Team Leader will work as a frontline member of the team with protected time to carry out specific team leader duties. In addition, a sleep-in and/or night duty commitment may be a requirement of posts in residential services for which the appropriate allowance will be paid. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience of working with people with an intellectual disability. They will also have experience of behaviours that challenge and complex needs. Experience in goal setting and programme implementation is essential. The successful candidate must have experience of managing and supervising a staff team and be up to date with current policy and legislation relevant to intellectual disability services. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, management and planning skills as well as the ability to set goals, implement and review. Candidates must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality, to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy. The successful candidate will have evidence of and be committed to Continued Professional and Personal Development. A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement.

Requirements

• A relevant 3rd level qualification in the Social Care or Health Sector e.g. Nursing qualification and current Live Register Certificate from NMBI or Social Care qualification and be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board - CORU or Be eligible under the Section 91 (existing practitioner) route for registration in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board -CORU (evidence of application status is necessary)
• Fluent English
• Intellectual Disability experience
• CORU or NMBI registered
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills

Salary: Indicative HSE pay scale for this grade, effective Jun 2026: €71,807–€80,581 per year.
