Key Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological investigations in accordance with laboratory protocols and ISO quality standards
- Process and analyse clinical specimens accurately and efficiently
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control policies
- Participate in quality management systems, audits, and accreditation processes
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
- Contribute to training, supervision, and support of junior staff and students
- Engage in continuous professional development and service improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- BSc in Medical Science or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU
- Registration with CORU as a Medical Scientist (or eligibility to register)
- Demonstrated experience in a microbiology laboratory setting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to quality assurance and best laboratory practices
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale (Medical Scientist Grade 3875): €44,831 – €74,404 per annum (including LSI, where applicable).
