Job Overview
KARE is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Care Worker (Grade 3029) to join its Residential Disability Service in Co. Kildare. This permanent wholetime position offers an opportunity to support individuals with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling, self-directed lives within their communities.
This vacancy is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is advertised as a Section 38 role. While publicly funded, the position is with KARE and not directly employed by the HSE. Terms and conditions may differ from direct HSE employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support individuals with intellectual disabilities in achieving personal goals and independence.
- Promote person-centred planning and inclusive community participation.
- Assist with daily living activities including personal care where required.
- Implement individual support plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory standards.
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and empowering residential environment.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A recognised Level 7 qualification in Social Care or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Eligibility for CORU registration (or working towards registration where applicable).
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleepover duties as required.
- Full clean driving licence is desirable.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Social Care Worker (3029)
- Salary Scale (effective 1 February 2026): €40,851 – €57,217 (12-point scale, inclusive of LSI)
- Starting Salary: €40,851 (Point 1)
- Permanent Wholetime Contract
- Access to public sector pension scheme (where applicable)
- Annual leave entitlement in line with public sector guidelines
- Premium payments may apply for weekend and sleepover duties in accordance with national agreements
