Top-of-scale points can be long-service increments that take extra years at the maximum, and future pay agreements will raise the figures — check your increment date with HR.

Frequently asked questions
- How do HSE pay increments work?
- HSE salaries follow fixed incremental scales: you start on a point of your grade’s scale and normally move up one point for each year of satisfactory service, on your increment date, until you reach the maximum. Some grades have long-service increments (LSIs) above the maximum, awarded after further years at the top.
- How much is an HSE increment worth?
- It depends on the grade and the point — steps typically range from a few hundred to a couple of thousand euro a year. Pick your grade and point in the calculator above to see the exact value of your next step, in both gross and take-home terms.
- When do I get my next increment?
- Normally on your increment date — usually the anniversary of your appointment or your last increment, subject to satisfactory service. Your exact date is on your contract or available from HR.
- Do increments change when pay agreements are agreed?
- Yes — national pay agreements raise the whole scale (every point), separately from your movement up the scale. The figures here reflect the consolidated scales effective 1 June 2026.
